When will I get my membership card?
Membership cards can take up to 3-4 weeks to process and mail to households, especially during our busiest months (June and December). Members may receive a temporary card to visit the Gardens while they wait for their official card to arrive in the mail.
Why do membership cards take a lengthy time to process?
As previously indicated, the issuance of official cards generally requires a period of 3 to 4 weeks for delivery to households. Should you have completed your membership payment at our front desk, online, or via mail, please be assured that your membership is being processed accordingly. Our Membership Specialist, who manages the entry of numerous memberships, is diligently working through the volume of transactions, which may account for the delay. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. In the interim, you are welcome to visit Reiman Gardens as a member by requesting a temporary card at our front desk while awaiting the arrival of your official card. If it has been more than 4 weeks, please call our Membership Specialist at 515-294-3755.
How do I go about purchasing a membership?
You can pay for a membership several different ways. You can pay for one at the Front Desk, pay over the phone by calling the Membership Specialist, mail in a check, or fill out a credit card form on your renewal letter slip.
Can I bring outside (non-member) guests with me to a member-only event?
Absolutely! Individual, Duo, and Group levels may bring up to 1 guest. Group Plus and Sustainer level members may bring up to 2 guests. Champion-level members may bring up to 4 guests. We encourage our members to share the experience of these member events with guests in the hopes that guests will see the value of membership and consider supporting us.
How do I claim my ISU discount?
Current ISU employees (faculty, P&S, merit, and contract) are eligible for a 20% discount on any membership level upon verification of employment. Memberships can be purchased at the Gardens (please bring your ISU ID card), over the phone, or by mail using a membership form.
Please note: The ISU discount cannot be redeemed online. This discount is exclusively for current ISU employees. However, the ISU discount can be applied towards gift memberships, provided that the purchaser can verify that the gift recipient is indeed an ISU employee.
I am a retired ISU employee. Can I redeem the 20% discount?
No. Only current ISU employees are eligible for the 20% discount. Thank you for your understanding.
My membership card currently has two cardholders, but I only want my name on the card. What should I do?
Contact our Membership Specialist at 515-294-3755 to notify her of any changes to the number of cardholders, names of the cardholders, address changes, phone number changes, etc and she will take care of it. Please note that any new person added to a card must have an address on file for them. You will get a new card sent in the mail after changes have been made.
Can I add a third person to my card?
No. Membership cards are either one named cardholder or two named cardholders. If you are wanting to bring more people with you, we suggest the Group Plus level.
I lost my membership card(s). What should I do?
Please email or call our Membership Specialist. She would be happy to reprint you a new card (or cards) at no cost to you.
I have a nanny who cares for my children. Which membership level should I choose?
Group Plus is our designated nanny level and makes entering the Gardens a breeze for you and your nanny! This membership level will allow your nanny to bring the children to the Gardens without either cardholder present. Simply give your nanny the membership card for the day and have them present it to the Front Desk. The nanny and your children will be let in on the honor system. This is the only membership level we allow for the honor system.
I am a long-time member of the Gardens, but I am not receiving member-only newsletters. Why is this?
Please check your junk email, as oftentimes our members will find our newsletter there. If it is not there, it is very likely you unsubscribed from our mailing list. Members newsletters are sent ONLY via email, not by mail. If you unsubscribe, you will not receive any member news, member-only invites, etc. If you are not receiving member e-newsletters, simply contact the Membership Specialist at 515-294-3755. She will send you a link where you will need to resubscribe. We at Reiman Gardens cannot add you back, you must resubscribe on your own.
Which members are eligible for the digital magazine subscription?
Brand new members who have not yet held a membership with Reiman Gardens previously are eligible for this special offer. This offer is provided by the American Horticulture Society and is subject to change. Please contact the Membership Specialist for more information.
What is the Reciprocal Admission Program and how do I use my Reiman Gardens membership when I travel?
Great news! Members can get into other botanical gardens completely for free or at a greatly reduced cost through the Reciprocal Admission Program. Simply present your membership card and a valid photo ID to the botanical garden you are visiting. Be sure to check the AHS website to ensure the botanical garden you are visiting is a participating garden. The RAP program is for free/greatly reduced general admission. It does NOT include getting in for free at special events at other gardens.
I would like to be featured in the Member Spotlight in the member e-newsletter. How do I go about submitting this?
We love highlighting our members and why they love their membership. Please contact our Membership Specialist and she will send you a questionnaire to fill out. You will also need to send a face framing photo.
How do members receive free admission when they visit the gardens?
Members must present their current membership card and a valid form of ID to front desk employees upon entrance to the gardens.
When will I get my membership card?
Membership cards can take up to 3-4 weeks to process and mail to households, especially during our busiest months (June and December). Members may receive a temporary card to visit the Gardens while they await their official card to arrive in the mail.
Are memberships transferrable to friends or family?
No. Memberships are non-transferable. In other words: you cannot share your cards with others. Only those whose names are listed on the card may use the memberships and its benefits.
Can I cancel my membership and get a refund?
Memberships to Reiman Gardens are considered tax-deductible donations and are non-refundable. We sincerely thank you for your support of Reiman Gardens.
Can I purchase a membership for someone else?
Yes! A membership to Reiman Gardens is a wonderful gift. It is highly recommended that gift memberships are purchased well in advance of holidays. Mail delivery times take much longer than usual in mid-December, so winter holiday gift memberships should be processed by the end of November or early December.
What should I do if I have a membership question?
Please contact Allison Anderson, our Membership Specialist. You can contact Allison at 515-294-3755 or email her at allisona@iastate.edu or rgmembership@iastate.edu. In the event your first point of contact is with our Front Desk staff, or Allison is not available, please remember to show them all due respect. They will do their best to help you find an answer or get a message to Allison.
Members are asked to be aware of the parameters of the membership level that they have selected and to follow them accordingly. On occasion, membership parameters and benefits may change; we will communicate all changes to you as soon as they have been determined. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
I'm a member. I can do anything I want at Reiman Gardens, right?
No. We love our members and wouldn't exist without them. However, we still expect the same level of respect and understanding from our members as we do any other visitors who walk in our doors. Any members found to be breaking these rules or behaving inappropriately at Reiman Gardens may be asked to leave or have their membership revoked.
